Welcome to our disabled sports and swimming club
We are a club for the Physically Disabled and welcome all adults with a disability, either short or long term, to join us.
If you are recently disabled or recovering from an accident or suffering from arthritis we maybe able to help you. We have in the past been able to give assistance to amputees and stroke victims to come to terms with their disability particularly in the swimming pool where we have the sole use of the pool for one hour a week. Some of our members are referred to us by their physiotherapist. Swimming is great physiotherapy.
We have trained coaches to assist you. If you can't swim we will teach you on a one to one basis.
Update: We are currently not using the Sports Hall at the present time. In the Sports Hall there is an opportunity to try out Short Mat Bowls even from a wheelchair. Other games such as pool, billiards, table tennis, badminton, darts, dominoes, chess as well as a current favourite rummikub are available.
Our members also have access to the Fitness Suite gym at the Leisure Centre.
Why don't you come along on a Friday Evening, you will be very welcome. You are never too old or too disabled. We always welcome new helpers too. You could be a helper as part of a Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme community service.
